Former 2005 WSOP Event Winner Wins LIPS event!

Barbara Enright is the winner of The Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS) event, part of the Legends of Poker series at The Bicycle Casino. (Dianna Donofrio established the tournament series, Legends of Poker in 1995 which is not only a stop on the LIPS Tour, on the World Poker Tour as well). Enright, one of the first inductees of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame in February, 2008 walked away victorious with almost $11K in prize money.

The No Limit Hold Em “ladies only” event had a secret participant in disguise – a gentleman by the name of John Vorhaus.  Vorhaus, a famed poker journalist and author of the Killer Poker book series, dressed as a woman to participate. So how did he get away with such mischievousness?  Firstly, California incorporates non-discriminatory laws and the event cannot disallow the entry of men. Secondly, Vorhaus received special permission by LIPS Founder Lupe Soto and the Director of Marketing for The Bicycle Casino , Kelly O’Hara.

Wanting to report on the topic of men playing in ladies only poker tournaments, Vorhaus took the trek himself and thought he’d spice things up a bit for the occasion.  Curious on how he placed in the event? John Vorhaus ended up finishing seventh overall!
