This week was named National Poker Week by the Poker Players Alliance and many in the poker industry are headed to Washington to lobby for the game of poker. Annie Duke will be one of the poker pros in Washington trying to get lawmakers to create legislation to license and regulate the game of poker in the United States.

Annie, along with many others, will be delivering the poker petition to President Obama on the 22nd. The petition was created by the PPA to show legislatures that poker players have a voice and want a change. The petition asks the President for his support for the regulation of online poker.

Annie commented: “We all have a right to play poker and taking away that right sets a dangerous precedent that no American should stand for. There’s a lot of work to do to ensure that poker players and the game get the respect they deserve but we’re getting there.”

Annie Duke has been has a driving force behind the regulation of the game of poker in the United States. Last year she testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee hearing on online gaming.
